Rivanna River

Rivanna Conservation Society river regatta, June 17. The Rivanna serves as the eastern border between the City of Charlottesville and the County of Albemarle from Rivanna Park to Bland Circle. The regatta started at Darden Towe Park in the County (the City has no formal boat launching points).

Great shot Bill!

Mike Svetz and the City are eager to put in a boat launch at Riverview Park when the time is right and funds allow. I think the partial breach of the Woolen Mills dam will create the necessary momentum for such. In addition the County is working on a river trail on their side to connect to the Rivanna Trail at points. A bridge between Pen Park and Darden Towe has been discussed and may actually happen. Rumor has it that the old steel bridge in Palmrya may be recycled for a foot bridge. But that is not confirmed.

See you on the river,
Jason
